Artist Interview: Martina Nehrling

Words of the day: optimism. audible. flying. direct. whale.

Martina Nehrling, painter based in Chicago, joins ahtcast to talk process, scale of the work, and how some pieces require a lot of "think time." Martina Nehrling also shares her reasons for wanting to have had the chance to speak with a special list of artists who's work means a lot to her and her being an artist. Please tune in as I also share my thoughts on the work, as well as which musical act I feel would make an appropriate soundtrack to some of Nehrling's paintings. Listen below for more!

Meg Smaker's short film: The Artist of Silicon Valley: Mitchell Johnson

I had the pleasure of speaking with painter, Mitchell Johnson back in June of 2011 for ahtcast. Time warp to 2015, I just came across this new short film by Meg Smaker featuring Johnson that covers some different aspects of his studio life. This feature includes his thoughts on his own work, moving out of New York, having paintings in some feature films, and a bunch more.

It's always great to get updates on what previous guests have been up to. So please lend your eyes and ears for this short film, a quick eight and a half minutes, I'm sure you will enjoy it! Thanks for your support.
